Shaftsbury town offices at Cole Hall will close to the public after Tuesday March 17, 2020. To the extent possible, town services will remain available as follows:

• Cole Hall will be posted that the building is closed. No one other than staff who work in the building on a regular weekly basis, Select Board members with essential business, and researchers /attorneys who have made appointments with the Town Clerk will be allowed entry.
• All staff will be encouraged to perform their duties remotely to the extent possible.
• Those who need to be in the building are encouraged to set times in consultation with other employees to minimize occupancy of the building.

Note: Dog licenses are due April 1, 2020. Late fees are waived until May 1, 2020.

Keep in mind that you are still more likely to get the flu than the corona virus. But there is no harm in taking extra precautions, principally frequent hand washing. The world-wide reaction to corona is not a cause for panic, but rather an indication that steps are being taken to prevent the virus from spreading, which is all to the good.
