Shaftsbury’s Water Board is composed of the five-member Select Board, the Superintendent, and a non-voting Ad Hoc Member. This body is responsible for setting water rates and establishing the rules and regulations governing the operation of the Water Department.
The Water Department Superintendent, is appointed by the Select Board, oversees the day-to-day operations of the water system. Responsibilities include maintaining the Twitchell Hill pumping station, water lines, and fire hydrants; installing and reading water meters; and conducting monthly testing of the Town’s drinking
water to ensure safety and compliance.
Additionally, the Superintendent serves as Shaftsbury’s liaison to the North Bennington Water Department, helping coordinate regional water services.
