Charles Spencer was on the Pay Roll of Capt. Peleg Mattison's Company of Militia for service done on an Expedition in the Northward, Shaftsbury, 1781 He was in service for 15 days and traveled 55 miles. State of Vermont Rolls in the Revolutionary War 1775-1883 J. E. Goodrich 1904 pg. 519.
