Upcoming in Shaftsbury: Potluck with New Administrator, Memorial Day Parade

SHAFTSBURY - The Select Board will hold a a potluck dinner before its Monday, May 20, meeting to welcome the new town administrator.
"First of all, I wanted to welcome Paula Iken to her first Select Board meeting," Chair Naomi Miller said at the start of Monday's meeting. "We're very glad you're here."
The welcome potluck dinner at 4:30 p.m. on the second floor of Cole Hall. The regularly scheduled Select Board meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
"Everybody's invited, the public included," Miller said. "Everyone can bring food and drink if they want, and if they don't they can just come and eat and say hi to Paula."
Iken started as the new town administrator on May 1. She is currently overlapping with outgoing administrator David Kiernan.
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
The Memorial Day parade in Shaftsbury will be held on Monday, May 27. There will be a service at the Veterans Memorial at Cole Hall at 8:30 a.m.
The parade will step off at 9 a.m. and go around Cleveland Avenue.
Any organizations, non-profits or people who want to march in the parade can send an email to Town Clerk Marlene Hall to get on the list of marchers. "We would love to have you," said Board Vice Chair Martha Cornwell. Hall's email address is townclerk@shaftsburyvt.gov.
Shaftsbury and the Village of North Bennington alternate years in presenting the Memorial Day Parade.
