Meeting Times

The commission meets at 6:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at the municipal offices, unless otherwise noted on the Town calendar.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission has completed work on four amendments to Shaftsbury's zoning bylaws. The report describes those changes, including the literal text of the changes as amendments to the report.

The changes we propose include permit fees that are set by the SB. We recommend the following

Home Occupation: A three year permit with a fee of $50 that is reduced to $25 if the applicant agrees to be listed on the town website local business directory.
Short Term Rental: An annual fee (due March 1) of $50 that is reduced to $25 if the applicant agrees to be listed on the town website local business directory.

Welcome to the Shaftsbury Planning Commission Home Page. The Planning Commission is comprised of five of your neighbors who volunteer to serve and are appointed by the Selectboard. The purpose of a planning commission is to develop and propose to the voters zoning bylaws for the town with the goal of promoting the orderly development of the community. Our work focuses on preparing and presenting proposed bylaws, writing a first draft of each new Town Plan, working with other agencies to make recommendations on land use, economic and social development, historic preservation, and protection of natural resources of our town.

We are currently working on bylaw revisions to promote the availability of housing. Please join us in person or on Zoom at one of our meetings.
