Household Hazardous Waste Facility Opens May 18th

Are you in the midst of Spring cleaning? Have you found some questionable items in your cabinets, lockers, garages, and barns? Are you looking for a safe place to dispose of them? If so Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance (BCSWA) urges you to collect those unwanted cleaning products, pesticides, and other hazardous materials are banned from the landfill and bring them to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
On Monday, May 18th, BCSWA will re-open its Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility; the place where you can safely dispose of those unwanted, toxic, poison, and flammable items.
The HHW Facility is located at the Bennington Transfer Station, 904 Houghton Lane Bennington VT. It is open on Mondays by appointment through October to residents and small businesses in southwest Vermont. Appointments can be made at the Alliance’s website
benningtoncountywaste.org or by calling 802-442-0713, Ext. 2. A $5.00 fee is charged to residents to use the facility and rates for Small Businesses will be determined by item type, quantity, and disposal cost.
The facility is open to residents and small businesses from Arlington, Bennington, Dorset, Glastenbury, Manchester, Pownal, Rupert, Sandgate, Searsburg, Shaftsbury, Stamford, Sunderland, and Woodford. The facility is funded by the 13-member towns of the Alliance and supported by a $31,856 grant from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources’ Department of Environmental Conservation.
