The Green Mountain Hometown Heroes Banner Program is coming to Shaftsbury.

The Green Mountain Hometown Heroes Banner Program is making its debut in Shaftsbury, marking an important expansion of Vermont’s community-driven tribute to local military veterans. Organized entirely by volunteers, the program produces vibrant banners featuring veteran names, ranks, photos, and service branches-honoring both living and deceased heroes-then installs them on town street poles.

. The project mirrors successful installations in nearby towns like Bennington, Pownal, and Readsboro, where banners remained up through the warmer months to foster community pride and remembrance

. This summer, Shaftsbury residents will have the opportunity to become a sponsor in tribute to veterans-strengthening local ties, enriching the streetscape, and celebrating the service of our hometown heroes.
